Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does it take to create a painting?
A painting can take months—sometimes even longer! My process is quite unique, and I allow the artwork to evolve over time. I often find myself revisiting and reworking a painting, even after it seems "finished." I start with an idea, but I let my "muse" or "the Universe" guide me, and the result is always more inspired and interesting than I initially imagined.
  • Why do you love using oil paint?
While I’m proficient in many mediums, oil paint remains my favorite because of its endless flexibility. Oil allows me to create anything I envision. It’s truly the best medium for my artistic expression, offering a depth and richness that is unmatched.
  • What inspires you?
I draw inspiration from nature, beauty, textures, and mysteries—there’s no end to what captivates me. I find beauty in surprising places, and it fills me with infinite joy. Every new discovery sparks my creativity.
  • How do you start a painting?
I always have a wealth of ideas swirling in my mind, but I start with a single, stunning image. From there, the painting "speaks" to me, or the muse takes over. I love creating unusual or impossible situations in my artwork to surprise the viewer. I usually work from photographs I’ve taken, but my imagination plays a vital role in shaping the final piece. It’s a process that brings endless fun and exploration.
  • How long have you been painting?
I’ve been painting since around 1975, when I was in college. Over the years, my style has evolved significantly, as one would expect from a lifelong artist. Every piece I create is an extension of my growth and learning as an artist.
  • How did you develop your style?
My style developed naturally over the years. It happened by simply painting what I love, day after day. For young artists, I encourage you not to rush the process of developing your style. It will emerge on its own, but only through consistent practice and dedication. Just trust in the journey and enjoy the act of creation—your unique style will find its way to you.
